Hi everyone! I am really excited to write about this because it is a very amazing product. There are a few things I tend to look out for in my skincare/makeup routine and flawless, good skin is ranked number 1. A good base product has to have 4 qualities - colour, consistency, finish and lasting effects. I will talk about each shortly.

I have finally tried the highly raved IDS DD DIAMOND DUST BASE.

IDS DD DIAMOND DUST PERFECTOR

What: Makeup base
Suitable for: All skin types
Shade: One, fits most fair to medium skin tone
Size: 15 mL
Price: $69.55
Where to get: IDS stores/online
Website | Facebook | Instagram

Promises:

1. Instantly minimises the appearance of enlarged pores and blemishes
2. Softens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
3. Natural, smooth finish with sheer and weightless coverage
4. Improves skin tone and reduce redness
5. Long-lasting with SPF
6. Blends seamlessly into skin

This is quite a list of claims so let's get started!

Packaging

Pump applicator for easy dispersal of the product. One pump is usually more than enough for my whole face.

Colour

Although only 1 shade is available,  it should still fit most people with light to medium skin tones. It also does not oxidise readily so what you see is what you get.

Consistency

DD cream has a creamy consistency that spreads and blends into the skin easily. It dries quickly but you will have sufficient time to blend it out.

Finish

IDS DD Diamond Dust base's finish is incredible. I really like how it makes my skin looks. DD base dries matte and helps to blur out pores. Coverage can be light to light-medium and is extremely buildable. No cracking or unevenness even if you apply 2 or 3 layers.

It gives off a very natural and glowy look and I like this for light or heavy makeup. It really looks like IDS has grounded diamonds and added them to the formulation.

Lasting power

Decent lasting power but I like to dust a layer of loose powder on top to make the base last longer.
Some parts can be rubbed off at the end of the day (around my nose, chin and cheeks). Recently, the hot weather makes my sweat a lot under my mask. The sweat, oil and heat will make it smudge slightly. I touch up by wiping the excess sebum with a tissue paper.

Swatch/wear test

Left: Before | Right: After

This is with 1 layer of IDS DD Diamond Dust. You can still see some darker spots/flaws but they are significantly lightened.

My usual routine will be something like this:
Skincare > Sunblock > IDS DD Diamond Dust Perfect > Concealer > Loose powder

Removal

Effortless to remove even with micellar water. Most of the time once is enough to get everything off. Did not experience any breakout or skin problems after incorporating it into my skincare.

On dry spots

It tends to emphasise dry spots/areas. My skin has been flakey and there are quite a few healing (and peeling) spots. Use a light hand and build coverage by layers.

Good skin doesn't come easy. I cannot stress this enough as wearing a mask changed my skin condition. Thus, the wrong skin care routine/makeup can cause breakouts. I am glad this doesn't. You can also wear IDS DD base on its own or underneath your foundation. The coverage is light but it is buildable to your liking (around medium coverage). I especially love how it makes my skin looks - softer with a natural glow. It is easy to apply (I use fingers) and remove. There is very minimal transfer but can smudge if it's too humid/hot under your mask.

Pros:
- Buildable coverage
- Blend with fingers
- Good finish and glow
- Light on skin
- Does not clog pores

Cons:
- Can smudge under very humid/hot situation
- 1 shade, may not fit very tanned skintone

Here's another Biore product! We have tried many and have written a few of our experiences here on JJOYIS. Biore sunscreens are always a staple in our makeup stash. They are really affordable and of good quality - there is no way not to like them.
This time, I am writing about Biore UV Perfect Milk (Cool). I think this is currently not available in Singapore. I purchased this from Watsons Malaysia (when we still can travel T_T). Nonetheless, you can still find it online if you wish to try it out after reading!

Biore UV Perfect Protect Milk (Cool)

What: Sunscreen
For: Face & Body
Size: 25 mL
SPF: 50+
PA: +++
Price: $10-ish
Where to buy: Overseas, online shopping platforms like Shopee, Qo100 and Lazada

Ingredients

Cyclopentasiloxane, Alcohol, Water, Zinc Oxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Lauryl Methacrylate/Sodium Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Talc, Glycerin, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Methicone, Polysilicone-9, PEG-3 Dimethicone, Menthol, Fragrance, BHT, Tocopherol, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Germ Oil, Phenoxyethanol, o-Cymen-5-ol

Packaging

biore perfect protect milk cool review packaging

The bright yellow packaging really stands out. This sunscreen has a capacity of  25 mL; thus it is pretty small and easy to carry around. It has a shaker inside to mix the formulation before use. The cap comes with a twist-lock so you don't have to worry about spilling.

biore perfect protect milk cool review tip

The opening is small but the product flows out easily, credit to the consistency of the sunblock.

Scent

Lightly scented and not obvious/overwhelming.

Texture/consistency

biore perfect protect milk cool review swatch test

It is very watery, spreads easily and dries fast enough. Biore UV Perfect Protect Milk outperformed my requirements lol.

On skin

On skin, this is not oily, sticky, matte nor shiny. It looks and feels like it didn't exist.

I am so happy with this and it does not cause any breakouts/clog pores. It claims to have anti-bacterial formula too.

Under makeup

No issues so far under makeup/makeup base.

Ingredients

Biore UV Perfect Cool uses a combination of ingredients to provide physical and chemical sun protection. If you're sensitive to silicones, fragrance or preservatives, this may not be suitable for you. Talc is also added -  I am still willing to accept when it is in liquid state. However, I don't mind if they are able to keep the consistency while improving the ingredients.

For face and body

I believe this is suitable as stated but I usually only use it on my face. This is because:
1. It will probably run out in no time if I use it on my face AND body
2. I don't use sunblock on my body ANYWAY unless I am doing outdoor activities lol

Water-resistant

Biore UV sunscreen claims to be water/sweat resistant but this is too hard to verify.

Overall

This seems like a very underwhelming post with little pictorial references. After trying so many different brands of sunscreens, I realised that it is not an easy feat to meet all the basic expectations.

The texture is light and it leaves no unpleasant feeling on the skin after use. This is one of my favourites out of the many other Biore's sunscreens. SPF and PA rating is good enough for everyday use and layering is possible as well. While a lot of products these days are trying to reduce the number of ingredients in their formulations. I believe most ingredients are still safe to use. My take is if it doesn't cause any problem and I enjoy using it, I will continue to use it. That being said, I will continue to try new brands but I know Biore sunblocks will always take a special spot in my heart (or makeup stash). The consistency in the performance of all their products is for all to see and experience.

Pros:
- Good consistency and texture
- Blends easy
- Absorbs fast
- No white or greasy finish
- Does not interfere with makeup/skincare
- Little scent
- Good packaging

Cons:
- Ingredient list
- Quite small

Packaging: 5/5
Consistency: 5/5
On skin: 5/5
Ingredients: 3.5/5
Value for money: 4.5/5

Rating: 9.5/10

When you think of lip balms, you think of Burts Bees. I don't really use lip balm regularly in Singapore but they are a staple when I travel. This is a tinted lip balm, something useful when you need both moisture and colour.

Burts Bee Tinted Lip Balm

What: Tinted lip balm
Colours available: 8
Colour: Pink Blossom (Cool pink tone)
Scent: Waxy
Net weight: 4.25 g
Price: $18
Where to buy: Sephora
Website | Instagram | Facebook

Ingredients:

cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, olus (vegetable oil, huile vegetale), cera alba (beeswax, cire d'abeille), olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, candelilla cera (euphorbia cerifera wax, cire de candelilla), helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, aroma (flavour)*, lanolin, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, cananga odorata flower wax, jasminum officinale (jasmine) flower wax, ammonium glycyrrhizinate, tocopherol, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, glycine soja (soybean) oil, canola oil (huile de colza). May contain: alumina, CI 77891 (titanium dioxide), CI 75470 (carmine), CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499 (iron oxides). *natural flavour

Packaging

Good, quality packaging. Trust me, some really cannot make it!

Peel to review the ingredient list but it is easier to check above.

Transfer test

It transfers; as expected. Lip balms tend to sit on top of your lips to provide protection. Touching up is necessary after a meal or drink.
As the colour is sheer, it does not look bad after eating.

Scent

Quite a strong, waxy scent. I don't really like it.

Colours

They have 8 colours in the range and there are selections suitable for all skin tones. I picked Pink Blossom, one of the most popular colours in this series.

review burts bee tinted lip balm jjoyis colour pink blossom swatch on hand

Swatched it lightly on my wrist. The colour is sheer but still shows on my skin.

Moisturising

Promises 8 hours of hydration and it lives up to claim. Quite moisturising but I have not tested on chapped/peeling lips (no chance thanks to the humidity in Singapore)

On lips (Swatch)

Colour payoff is light and it offers some colour correction.

Pink Blossom is a nice cool pink but it does not suit my skin tone. I have warmer and tanner skin colour so a cooler lip colour isn't flattering on me. It makes my lips look purple as you can see below lol.

review burts bee tinted lip balm pink blossom jjoyis colour pink blossom swatch on lip test

I don't know why I picked this colour but if you're fair/have cool undertones, Burts Bees pink blossom will probably look great on you!

You will feel it on your lips but it is not tacky or sticky.

Application

Application is easy - there's no need for a mirror or to prep your lips before that.

Ingredients

Burts bees is known for its natural formulation and this tinted lip balm is free of parabens, phthalates, petrolatum, or SLS. A quick run-through on its ingredients suggests little red flags.

If you are looking to protect/repair very chapped lips (something I always suffer from whenever I travel to drier climates), check out Lucas Papaw ointment or Laneige Lip Mask. I have not tested this on badly chapped lips so I can't tell for sure how moisturising it is. I actually like the humidity level in Singapore because I literally peel everywhere whenever I travel a little further lol.

I use this on its own when I needed some moisture and some colour. It will still transfer so some will end on up the inside of my mask (common issue since 2020) but it is still bearable. I don't think the colour is not nice, it is just not suitable for me.

I hope they would consider working on the scent though. It really smells like a crayon to me. Not overbearing but since I am constantly smelling it when I apply on my lips, it can feel a little unpleasant over time.
The last thing I want to mention is... Burts Bee lip tint balm is so expensive in Singapore? $18 for a lip balm, ok.
I remembered it was selling for $3/4 USD in America. What a big difference.

Pros:
- Sheer colour
- Moisturising
- Good range of colours to select from

Cons:
- Price
- Smell
- Colour is not suitable for me (is this really a con lol)

Thank you & bye!
It has been a few years since I stopped using foundation daily. I don't have very good skin yet but I learned to embrace a more natural look. Recently, I started adding makeup base/tinted sunblocks into my regime so let me share on the first one we have sampled.

Makeup base is great for people who wear makeup and don't. Ever since masks became mandatory, my skin has been breaking out more and it has become oilier. I had to make some adjustments to my skincare and base regime, added a few products and ditched some others to make everything work again.

What: Base/primer

Sun protection: SPF 16, PA++
Scent: -
Size: 25 mL
Price: $17
Where to get: Watsons/online shopping platforms like Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10.

Ingredients

Aqua, Cyclopentasiloxane, C4-14 Perfluoroalkylethoxy Dimethicone, Alcohol, Lauryl Methacrylate/ Glycol Dimethacrylate Crosspolymer, Octinoxate, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Polianthes Tuberosa Polysaccharide, Chamomilla Recutita, Thujopsis Dolabrata Branch Extract, Polysilicone-9, Magnesium sulfate, Hydrogenated polyisobutene, Butylene Glycol, Mica, CI 77947, CI77891, C8-18 Fluoroalcohol Phosphate, Methicone, Hydroxyapatite, CI 77491, CI 77492, Dibutyl Hydroxy Toluene, Vitamin E, Methyl parahydroxybenzoate.

How I use:

Shake well before use. I usually just spread it out directly on my face using my fingers. It is buildable so I use a light layer each time.
Apply after sunblock and before makeup (I dust loose powder and conceal any flaws with a concealer)

Packaging

Consistency

sofina primavista ange long keep uv primer consistency

Light-weight, very liquidly and blends easily. The consistency is great and it does not make my skin feel stuffy.

This base has a light pink tint to it (which I will talk about in the next point).

On skin/finish

sofina primavista ange long keep uv base primer review before after swatch

When applied on the skin, it is non-sticky or oily. There will be an immediate brightening effect as shown.
It feels really good on my skin. It may look a little fair initially but give it will look natural in just a few minutes.
sofina primavista ange long keep uv base primer review before after swatch

Sofina's primer brightens p my skin without that overbearing white cast some colour-correcting base has.

Let's zoom in a little more.

sofina primavista ange long keep uv base primer review before after swatch

Doesn't it look like I've some sort of beauty filter on?

This is how it works on pimple scars, redness, skin tone and pores. Sofina Ange Base scored well when it comes to covering redness, brightening skin tone and blurring pores. You can still see faint dark spots/pimple scars after application but that can be easily solved using a concealer.

Lasting power

This does not stop oil production but it prevents any sort of flaking or creasing. Your skin will slowly change from powdery to more of a buttery finish (if you get what I mean). I like to blot my skin with a tissue after around 5 hours. Apply loose powder to make it last longer. It will start to smudge/crease after 6-8 hours.

Other functions

Other than acting as a primer, it has added benefits such as SPF protection (SPF 16, PA++). It is not high so I would still apply a layer of sunscreen underneath Sofina Primavista base.

On my dry spots

My skin is a little flaky/peeling around my nose and chin after a milk enzyme facial (Not forgetting the new pimples - I haven't been taking Kordel's Primrose Oil diligently). It will emphasise dry areas, especially when the skin is peeling slightly.

No big deal, just use less product on these areas.

Ease of removal

Easy to remove.

Overall

I am quite happy with Sofina Primavista long keep base. I have read a fair share of good reviews before and finally, I am adding to its long list.

Sofina UV base checked all my boxes - decent oil control, brightens and evens out my skin tone. It minimises the appearance of pores and works well alone or under foundation. It can crease on dry, flaky skin but honestly, I have never tried something that doesn't on skin like that.

If you have a lot of blemishes to cover then this is probably not something you use alone.

Pros:
- Smoothens skin
- Brightens skin tone
- Easy to remove
- Oil & shine control
- Longer lasting makeup
- Non-sticky or oily on application

Cons:
- Small?

Thank you & bye!

Be it travelling, stayovers or staycations, never forget to remove your make up. Taking care of your skin starts with a good cleaning routine. I know it is troublesome to bring along so many products so I am constantly searching for things convenient to replace some of my skincare items.

Today, I will be reviewing Bifesta Cleansing sheets - they come in large packs and smaller, travel-friendly 10-pieces pack as well.

So glad more and more companies are using this type of lid; it really helps to keep the sheets moist for a longer period of time. Can be quite bulky to travel with but not to worry, Bifesta cleansing sheets come in packs of 10 as well.

bifesta cleansing sheet review sheet texture

This is how the sheet looks like close up. A little rough on the skin but still very acceptable.

Scent

Smells like alcohol

Removal Power

Works well for basic makeup except for waterproof mascara. They have another series made specifically for the removal of waterproof makeup. I will try it out and write a post on it soon.

Testing

bifesta cleansing sheet review test swatch
Eyebrow - Sasatinnie Eyebrow Pencil (Brown)
Eyeliner -   K-Palette 1-day tattoo 24H (Black)
BB cream - Nature Republic Eco BB Cream
Concealer - The Saem Cover Perfection Tip Concealer (Medium 1.5)
Lips - Innisfree Lip Tint
Mascara - Heroine Make Long&Curl Waterproof Mascara

Most of the products I am using now are rather easy to remove except (you guessed it) Heroine Make mascara.

1st wipe:

bifesta cleansing sheet review test try

Removed a lot of products.

After going in a few more times:

bifesta cleansing sheet review test swatch

There, 90% clean. Not surprised the mascara stayed. Not many can remove it easily so I still prefer to go in with an oil-based eye makeup remover.

Aftermath

This was how much that was left on my skin. Cleansed using Nivea Micellar Cleansing water and an oil-based eye makeup remover (discontinued)

bifesta cleansing sheet review cleansing power

I will wash with a regular facial cleanser to get rid of all the grim left on the skin. No tight or uncomfortable feeling after use. Didn't notice any brightening effect as claimed too.

Ingredients

Many makeup wipes contain alcohol and it is the same for Bifesta's too. I am a little concerned as alcohol is the second ingredient on the list. This can mean irritation/stinging or dryness to people with more sensitive skin. I don't have any issue using them though.

Most of the ingredients listed are friendly to the skin.

Overall

bifesta cleansing sheet review good?

Makeup wipes aren't great for daily use. They usually contain harsher ingredients and the act of dragging the sheet across your face regularly can cause pre-mature ageing. Nonetheless, they are still essential in my life especially during travels or even gym visits.

Generally, Bifesta does its job well and it can remove most of the makeup. However, a separate oil-based makeup remover is required for waterproof eye/lip makeup. This defeats its sole purpose in my point of view - aka convenience. Honestly, this is great for people with basic/simple makeup but with anything super waterproof, nope.

The packaging allows the sheets to stay moist for a long period of time. The sheets are large and very durable for use.

I am fine with the ingredients but I don't really fancy the smell.

Pros:
- Can remove most makeup
- Small packs convenient to carry around
- Lid to prevent sheets from drying out
- Large cleansing sheet

Cons:
- Strong alcohol smell
- Not good in removing waterproof makeup

Packaging: 5/5
Sheet material: 5/5
