Visited IDS clinic for a maintenance session. It has been some time since my last visit. Previously, I did carbon laser and this time round, I decided to go for a regular facial.

My skin was dry and breaking out so I was recommended to go for CTT facial.

IDS facial

Cryo Therapeutics Treatment is a good procedure to turn to when your skin is sensitive and you're looking for something to soothe it.

It aims to improve skin tone and texture and works on soothing skin irritation.
I used to avoid going for any facial procedure when my skin's condition is not so stable but basic maintenance is also crucial to help your skin recover.

There's no need to change out, I was shuffled into the room and the therapist immediately helped to remove my makeup. I wore very minimally on days I know I have a facial treatment.

After double cleansing, microdermabrasion was performed to remove dead skin cells.

Then, light extraction is done to get rid of more stubborn clogged pores and blackheads. My skin
bruises and turns red easily but it was looking fine after extraction by the therapist here.

Then, serums are applied to help with brightening and skin recovery.

Cryoprobe was used to speed up absorption

Likewise with sheet mask too.

After that, she put on moisturiser and sunscreen for me and I am good to go. Facial is very fast and has almost no downtime. It was a good basic care session.

Thank you & bye!
Have you ever heard of eye gels/eye ointment? Well, I definitely haven't until my LASIK treatment. I was prescribed Vidisic® Eye Gel along with several other eye products.  I did also subsequently requested to have a stronger option because my dry eyes symptoms were quite unbearable then. I was given an eye ointment (Alcon Duratears eye ointment), but I could not get used to that. I stuck to using Vidisic® Eye Gel since it did significantly improve my dry eyes symptoms and I cannot go a day without it now.

I am still using Vidisic® Eye Gel every day - when I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed. On some days, I might even need more applications.
Do I still use regular eyedrops then? Yes, I do.
Rohto eye drops is one of my favourite brands thus far. If you haven't read about my reviews on Rohto C Cube Eyedrops and Rohto Eyedrops Cool, you definitely should!

Vidisic gel, eye gel, Bausch & Lomb, dry eyes solution

Vidisic® Eye Gel

What: Ophthalmic gel
Suitable for: Dry eyes
Brand: Bausch & Lomb
Size: 10g
Price: ~$15
Where to buy: OTC at leading supermarkets/drugstores (Watsons, Guardian, Fairprice..),  online (Lazada, Qoo10, Shopee..), hospitals/pharmacies
Website | Shopee

Ingredients

1g contains 2mg carbomer, water for injections, cetrimide, sorbitol, sodium hydroxide

How to use:

Instil 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3 to 5 times a day, or more if needed. You can use it at any time of the day. Avoid touching your eyes with the tip of the tube.

Remove your contact lenses before using this product. Wait for 15 minutes before putting your lenses back after use.

❗Tip! Tilt your head slightly upwards, and look up when you instil the eye gel.

Promises:

A refreshing and cooling action, keeping the surface of your eyes lubricated

Packaging

It comes in a tube, something different from regular eye hydrating products. Vidisic® Eye Gel has a soft plastic casing, making it easy to dispense the clear sterile gel in your eye.

Vidisic gel, eye gel, Bausch & Lomb

The pointed tip greatly aids in the instilling of the eye gel on your conjunctival sac. Avoid touching your eyes with the tip though. You do not want to contaminate the whole tube.

Size

It comes in a small tube containing 10g of the product. As you will only instil one drop each time, this can last up to a month.

Please discard one month after opening.

On eyes (Application)

Once you applied a drop in, you can experience temporary blurred vision (about one to three minutes). I got used to the blurriness, hence, I regain my vision faster now.

I generally do not use this when I'm out as the blurred vision can be a hindrance.

Blink your eyes more to spread the gel around. It's slightly cooling and you will be relieved from the dryness soon.

Effects

The relief from the dryness does not come as instantly as when you used an eye drop, but effects kick in soon enough. Eye gels subpar eye drops in providing a longer-lasting effect and Vidisic® Eye Gel definitely proved this right. It helps ease my eyes for a longer period.

Overall

If you have pretty bad symptoms of dry eyes just like me, this might be a solution. I know how painful and unbearable it can get. This gel relieves my symptoms so well. I started with using this once every 4 hours, and it took me months before I am able to reduce my frequency to twice a day. It was a tough transition but I did not want to be reliant on external sources of hydration (as much as possible).

Vidisic® Eye Gel is pricier than eyedrops and can be less easy to use (can't do it without a mirror). However, the relief it gave me after using is what I really needed. Definitely glad that this product is available over the counter and sold at many drugstores/online platforms. Nothing can beat having a clear vision.

Having said that, if you have any discomfort with your eyes, please seek advice from a professional before self-administering any treatment. I am just sharing with you my experience with an ophthalmic gel because it works for me. And prior to LASIK, I have never heard of something like this before.

Pros:
- Lubricates eyes, provides relief for dry eyes symptoms
- Longer-lasting effect
- Able to help in more severe symptoms of dry eyes

Cons:
- Blurred vision for 1-3 minutes after using
- More difficult to instil than eye drops
- Need to remove contact lenses before use
- Can be pricier than eye drops

Exfoliating is crucial for good skin. There are many ingredients available in the market that does so but I generally categorise them into either physical or chemical exfoliants.

I've been avoiding physical exfoliants (scrubs) for years after I read more about it. Then why am I writing about a scrub today? You will see in a short while; I guarantee you that there are good reasons to continue reading.

IDS Facial scrub, scrub, skincare, review, cleanse, jojoba esters

IDS Facial Scrub

What is it: Scrub, physical exfoliant
Suitable for: Oily and/or blemish-prone skin
Size: 50 mL
Made in: -
Price: $66.34
Where to buy: IDS online store

Website | Instagram | Facebook

Ingredients

Sodium Bicarbonate, PEG-8, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Magnesium Carbonate, Jojoba Esters (Beads), PEG-100 Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Propylparaben, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Fragrance/Parfum, Bismuth Oxychloride, Mica, Chromium Hydroxide Green, Magnesium Stearate

How I use it

1. Mix facial wash and IDS scrub in the ratio of roughly 1:1
2. Lather with some water and apply directly on the skin
3. Go around in circular motions gently
4. Rinse off with water (warm/cold is ok)

Packaging

White squeeze tube with a matte finish. Simple and classy on your bathroom counter.

Ingredients

I am generally fine with this list but I want to mention that they really have a long list of preservatives. If you are sensitive to preservatives, you may want to take note of this. However, the preservatives they have are not synthetic.

Jojoba esters (Beads)

I want to specially highlight one of the ingredients - jojoba esters (beads). As I mentioned, I didn't like touch scrubs for the longest time.

For those who do not know yet, many scrubs are made of plastic microbeads and these tiny plastic are damaging to the environment (and the sea creatures). There is a lot of controversy around this. On top of that, microbeads that are not made symmetrically can cause micro-cuts on your skin.

Hence, when I found out about jojoba esters (beads) - spherical and more environmentally friendly, I was more open to give this a shot.

When first squeezed out

This is pretty fine and you can barely see the beads.

Experience of use/frequency

The product is flowy and a little goes a long way.

Some scrubs can be rather rough on the skin. However, IDS Facial Scrub uses jojoba esters (beads) which are more gentle on your skin, and you will not feel it hurting your face.

My favourite way of using IDS Facial Scrub is to combine facial wash with scrub, add a little water, and lather on the skin. Of course, you can also do it the conventional way; apply it on the face and neck and gently massage it in a circular motion after cleansing, add some water if necessary.

The official page suggests that this facial scrub can be used daily but we didn't want to overdo it.  I usually exfoliate once every week, 10 days, or whenever my skin feels 'rough'/'clogged'.

Suitable for

It claims to be ideal for oily & blemish-prone skin. We are more of a combination/dry (Joy) and combination/oily (Jov) skin and it works quite well for both of us. You can use less and mix with your regular facial wash to make it less 'harsh'. No scientific research, it is just my own opinion.

Results/Effects

It works every, single, time. After washing it off, my skin will be super soft and smooth, I kid you not.
It does not make my skin feels tight or dry. I feel cleansed and refreshed the moment I rinsed it off.
It takes the layer of dead skin off almost instantly; physical exfoliation gives instant, observable difference. I feel this is the fastest way to improve skin texture.

Overall

I am so glad to know that there are scrubs that are more environmentally friendly and also more skin-friendly. I hope this post can reach more people - not all scrubs are bad. In fact, physical exfoliation is more suitable for people with sensitive skin. Jov and I are both rather pleased with this IDS Facial Scrub.

Exfoliating regularly is also important to keep your skin soft and refreshed. Not only that, but it also prepares your skin and helps your subsequent skincare to be absorbed better. The effect is observable after 1 wash (a good way to soften and freshen skin). Always be gentle because no matter what, a physical exfoliant takes off the outer layer of your skin.

My IDS journey has been pretty great thus far. You can check out what I did/the products I have used from the link here.

Pros:
 - More environmentally-friendly and skin-friendly ingredients
- Smoothens skin
- Does not leave your skin dry and feeling tight after use
- Alternative to chemical exfoliants

Cons:
- How you use it is important

Thank you & bye!
It has been more than a year since I did my LASIK. In case you are wondering, I am still experiencing dry eyes. It is probably a long-term side effect. I did have symptoms of dry eyes before the surgery, so this side effect is nothing unexpected.

Eyedrops/eye gels are essential now and finding one that works and is suitable for my eyes is important.

I have used many brands even before my LASIK surgery. Came across the brand Rohto and Rohto Eye drops Cool and is still one of my favourites (some really don’t work well!).
Read our review on it. Having tried Rohto Cool, I have high expectations for this too. Rohto is the #1 eye care brand in Japan for the past 40 years. Today, I will give its other series a try.

Rohto C Cube Eyedrops review

C3 stands for Clear, Care, Comfort.
Rohto C Cube Eyedrops soothe and moisturise dry, tired and irritated eyes.

Packaging

As the name suggests, it comes in a cube shape.
Sturdy and portable. It fits easily in your pocket or bag. The shape allows this eyedrop to be carried around without the round bulge a traditional eyedrop bottle has.

Rohto C Cube Eyedrops packaging

Rohto C Cube Eyedrops dry eyes review

The cap twists open and snaps close tightly - preventing any possible leakages.

Can I emphasise how much I love clear containers? I can tell how much product is left inside accurately. The product dispenses without any problem.

Size

Rohto C Cube Eyedrops come in a smaller bottle compared with Rohto Eye drops Cool.
Though smaller, I still did not finish the whole bottle within a month even with daily usage.

Cooling effect

Unlike its counterpart, the cooling effect is 0. It will feel like every other eyedrop.

I prefer my eyedrop to have a more cooling effect for a stronger instant relief - and I love my Rohto Eye drops Cool for that. For people who find that too stingy, this eyedrop may be more comfortable to use.

Instant relief

This eye drop performed better than many other brands in providing relief and targeting all my needs.

First, my eyes always itch because of the dryness. Rohto C Cube Eyedrops instantly help to soothe minor irritation resulting from the lack of moisture. I would have lost my mind trying to prevent myself from rubbing them. Note that this eye drop does not contain antibiotics/anti-inflammatory properties, so it will not help to treat infection/inflammation. Consult a doctor/pharmacist should your eyes turn red/are infected.

Second, blurred vision is common for people with dry eyes. It provides some relief as it supplies moisture to my eyes. More drops may be necessary to help restore the clear vision.

Lastly, I also face strained and tired eyes often due to long hours of screen time or the lack of sleep. This eyedrop is my saviour to keep my day going.

Expiry date

Like all eye drops, it is advisable to toss 1 month after opening.

Overall

For the price of the item, it does better than many others in providing what I needed.

Symptoms of dry eyes can be so uncomfortable and annoying and it often affects my mood for that day. If you are prone to having dry eyes; no matter from long hours of contact lens usage, prolonged use of screens, lack of sleep, or the environment, using an eye drop really helps. I would not recommend over-usage though as you would not wish to be fully reliant on them.

Rohto C Cube Eyedrops provides longer-lasting hydration but does not deliver instant relief and comfort like how Rohto Eye drops Cool did. If I have to choose, I will use Rohto Eye drops Cool when I am feeling very uncomfortable or experiencing pain from the extreme dryness. If I am only starting to have symptoms of dry and tired eyes, I would use Rohto C Cube Eyedrops. Of course, this is just my opinion and you can let me know what you think! I carry both in my bag 😝

Perhaps I will talk about my LASIK experience someday. Till then!

Pros:
- Instant relief to dry, tired and irritated eyes
- Compact and portable to carry around
- Suitable for contact lens users
- Hydrating
- Affordable

Cons:
- No cooling sensation
